6/5/05 Sunday ACNA/MAC Performance G2G at SuperJam 2005
Wednesday, June 01, 2005
Did you ever ask yourself... "...what is the true performance of my Audi?" Would you like to find out? Take some 1/4 mile runs with us at SuperJam 2005 and find out! SuperJam 2005 is a great G2G at the Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton PA on Sunday June 5th, 2005. The organizers claim that its a HUGE VW show with events, food and more - and we have no reason to doubt them! The pictures of past events reflect a great time. So even though we're not "technically" VW's, we're sociable folk and we've been invited to participate in the 1/4 mile run(s) portion of the day! (and the other stuff too!) So if you'd like to see how your Audi compares to the published times, now's your chance! Join us! If you're interested in joining in, contact Drew Nurenberg at nurenber@netzero.net.

World premiere of 'Cars at Carlisle' TV Special
Wednesday, February 09, 2005
02/04/2005
CARLISLE, Pa. – The national premiere of the "Cars at Carlisle" program will air on Speed TV on Thursday, March 3, at 9 p.m. Eastern time. Speed is cable channel 61 in the Carlisle area and channel 69 in the Harrisburg area. Check local listings for other areas.
Carlisle Events entered into an agreement with Speed Channel to air “Cars at Carlisle,” a one-hour television special featuring highlights of the 2004 Carlisle Events show season.
The television special, financed and produced by Carlisle Events, serves as an introduction to the amazing lineup of events held each year at the Carlisle Fairgrounds and tells the story of this beloved phenomenon in the collector car hobby. Coming to Speed Channel this spring, the special will be aired at least four times in 2005. Barry Meguiar, host of “Car Crazy” on Speed Channel, also hosts the “Cars at Carlisle” program. Visit www.carsatcarlisle.com for announcements and updates on the show.
“We are very excited about our partnership with Speed Channel,” said Chris Edwards, Carlisle Events’ marketing manager. “Speed is the premier network for car, truck and motorcycle enthusiasts, and we look forward to the exposure our events will receive. Speed produces quality television programming with the same passion for the hobby that we bring to our events that attract more that 500,000 visitors each year. It’s a perfect match.”
Carlisle Events began filming events early in the 2004 show season with the goal of creating a television special, and Speed Channel expressed interest early in the project.
“As Speed Channel continues its commitment to strengthen the automotive-lifestyle programming we offer Speed viewers, adding coverage of signature events like the unique series of collector car shows held each year in Carlisle reinforces that commitment,” said Robert Ecker, Speed Channel VP of programming. “The inclusion of ‘Cars at Carlisle’ to the growing lineup of quality enthusiast programming in 2005 is a great move for Speed.”
The Cumberland County Office of Economic Development has decided to be among the advertisers for the special program.
Since its founding by Bill Miller and Chip Miller, Carlisle Events has called the Carlisle community its home. Carlisle is the seat of Cumberland County government, and the county has been working closely with Carlisle Events to increase the tourism draw of the Carlisle area both to continue attracting new visitors to the Cars at Carlisle events, and to encourage those visitors to explore the other historic, cultural and recreational attractions throughout Carlisle and Cumberland County. The county economic development office worked with Carlisle Events to produce a 30-second advertisement that will run concurrent with the prime-time premier and three subsequent airings of the new television program as part of that effort.
“Our strategic focus is on promoting the ‘Cars at Carlisle’ program as a veritable institution with a national and international reach,” said Douglas Wendt, executive director, Cumberland County Office of Economic Development. “This showcases Carlisle and Cumberland County as a premier destination for those visiting the shows today, and possibly returning for another visit tomorrow.”
Carlisle Events, host of at least 10 collector car, truck and motorcycle events each year, attracts more than half a million people to its 82-acre fairgrounds in Carlisle, Pa., each year. Included in the annual schedule are two huge automotive swap meets – in the spring and fall – and individual specialty shows featuring Corvettes, Fords, GMs, Chryslers, trucks, motorcycles, sport compacts and imports. Founded in 1974 by friends Bill Miller and Chip Miller, the “Cars at Carlisle” shows attract automotive enthusiasts from around the world.
In 2004, Speed Channel is the exclusive U.S. cable home for many of the top motorsports series in the world. In addition, Speed’s weekly programming schedule brings car enthusiast television to prime time Monday through Thursday. Now available in more than 68 million homes in North America, Speed Channel is among the fastest growing sports cable networks in the country and the home to NASCAR TV. My Fellow Track Enthusiasts:
I am the Motorsports Director of the Delaware Valley Miata Club. The Del-Val Miata Club is again offering an invitation to you and your club members to join us as we hold our annual Driving School at Pocono International Raceway on Monday and Tuesday, August 1st and 2nd. We will be running the North Course of the track and offer classroom and in-car instruction on Monday. We reserve the Tuesday session for open seat time, but if you let us know ahead of time, we may be able to provide some in-car instruction on Tuesday on a first-come, first-served basis.
We limit the number of participants on both dates to provide plenty of open track space and a safe environment. This is no roll bar requirement at our event and we welcome all convertibles to participate. This is a good opportunity for your members with convertibles who do not wish to invest in a rollbar to participate in a track event. We run this school with safety as our primary concern and this year will mark the 9th year of our event. Some of you may have attended our event as participants or instructors and can speak directly to the excellent reputation that our event has developed.
The cost of our event is $200 per day per driver. Information on lodging will be forwarded to those who are interested. Again, we prefer those with little or no track experience to participate on Monday but will try and accommodate those who can only attend Tuesday. Please be kind enough to pass this information along to your club members through your newsletter or website and mention it at your upcoming meetings.
Anyone interested in receiving additional information or reserving a slot for one or both days should contact Jeff Jury at (610) 742-9777 or e-mail racemiata@yahoo.com. If you e-mail, please include your contact information, phone and address and indicate if you are interested in the 1st or 2nd or both dates. Payment information will be included in my reply.
We will also be looking for instructors for the Monday, August 1st session. Instructors will receive free seat time on Monday. If you have instructed in the past at our event or have significant track experience and want to instruct this year, please contact me as well. (Participation on Tuesday will still require the $200 entry fee.)
This event usually sells out, so don’t wait to long to get the info to your club members and reserve your slots.
Regards,
Jeff Jury
